“We’re a not-for-profit with the goal of changing education for the better by providing a free world-class education to anyone anywhere.” -via the Khan Academy website
The website: khanacademy.org
Came About: September 2006
How it works: Khan Academy is a website that provides free online educational videos. The subject matter ranges from Fractional Reserve Banking to Renaissance Art to Elementary Algebra. The best part is that the videos are to the point and entertaining. Whether you’re an elementary school student or a college graduate you’ll be able to follow along and learn something.
The good stuff:
- It’s free!
- You can learn quite a bit about a whole lot of stuff.
- It’s backed by Bill Gates
The bad stuff:
- The only bad thing about Khan Academy is that there aren’t more sites like it
